Sculptra Norfolk

Many treatments have been discovered to remedy the physical manifestations of aging. Sculptra is one of the latest groundbreaking formulations that has changed the way that people perceive cosmetic skin treatments.

Sculptra treatments rid the skin of wrinkles. They not only make the face look younger and healthier, they do so by enabling the body to repair itself. To understand exactly how these treatments achieve this, you must first understand the process of aging.

How Does the Skin Age?

Collagen is a protein that plays a very important role in maintaining the structural integrity of the skin. Another vital protein, elastin, gives the skin its ability to go back to its former shape when stretched or pulled. Together, collagen and elastin make the skin firm yet flexible. Fibroblasts, a special type of cell in the body, continuously generate and replenish these proteins in the skin.

As a result of aging, the production of these compounds slows down. The structure of the proteins in the skin starts changing. At the same time, the production of enzymes responsible for their breakdown, collagenase and elastase, is activated. Complicating matters further are the effects of stress, hereditary factors, pollution, sun exposure, poor diet, and smoking.

The end effect of these changes is that the skin loses its elasticity and firmness. It starts to sag and form wrinkles, making a person look older.

How Does Sculptra Help?

Injectables dermal fillers are effective remedies for wrinkles and sagging, eliminating the need for any surgeries or the associated scarring and recovery downtime. Unlike other injectables, the Sculptra treatment addresses the root cause of the problem rather than treating the symptoms.

Sculptra is an FDA-approved biodegradable and biocompatible collagen stimulator. It contains microparticles of a synthetically produced form of lactic acid called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that can stimulate the production of collagen in the body.

The Treatment Process

First, the locations of the injections and the dosage amounts are chosen. Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, is often added to the Sculptra to minimize any potential discomfort. Before the injections are administered, topical numbing creams may be applied to the area to make the procedure virtually painless. The injections of Sculptra are then carefully and precisely administered into the chosen regions of the face.

Over the next couple of days, the liquid part of the injection is readily absorbed by the skin. It will be best to avoid heavy sun exposure for a time. Gradually, the PLLA microparticles revitalize the natural production of collagen in the deep dermis. In this manner, volume is added to the treated area, making the facial wrinkles and folds disappear.

In comparison to other injectables, the effects of Sculptra take some time to manifest. However, the end results of Sculptra are more natural-looking and last longer.
